Barnsley Branch Morris Minor Owners Club
The Barnsley Branch (the original & probably the best branch in the National MMOC that covers the whole of South Yorkshire) draws members from all over the S. Yorks region. It welcomes all Morris Minor owners especially those who live in and around Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and, of course, Barnsley. However it is not obligatory to live in S. Yorks, as evidenced by many of our existing loyal members who live outside this area.
Our venue is The BOATMANS REST pub, Edmonds Road, Worsbrough, Barnsley, S70 4TD. The regular meeting date is the 1st Thursday in the month, start time around 7.30 pm. Elsecar Heritage Centre, S74 8HJ, Sunday, May 22nd, 2016.
Following yet another successful & well attended 2015 rally (125 cars) at Elsecar we have booked the site again for 2016. We are hoping to reduce the congestion this year by moving our event away from the Antiques Fair
Entry fee £5 per car. All profits from the rally will be donated to the Marie Curie charity, forming part of our total donation as this years nominated charity.
Tom Roy (Chris Bransby) Morris Minor spares will be present again + a number of other stalls incl. other spares, tombola, cake & general bric-a-brac etc.
Please note. Barnsley Council have requested that all cars be on site by 10 am (Health & Safety rules). Vehicle movements between 10 am & 4 pm must be authorised & subject to control by marshals.
An entry form – see below, can be printed off and returned to Barrie McKenzie, complete with s.a.e. etc. Closing date for pre-booked entries is May 14th.
Photographs of most of the cars on display at last years rally & previous rallies can be found on the Potteries Branch website.
It has been decided that the Barnsley Jogle, as an event, has come to the end of its life. The economics make it no longer financially viable. Fuel costs for the event could be £300 -£400. Add accommodation costs to that and the outing could be £600 or more. It has been one of the most successful and important events in the MMOC. Sadly, we have to lay it to rest
The Morris Minor Owners Club, with around 12,000 members, is one of the largest classic car clubs in the UK, and the Barnsley Branch extends across much of South Yorkshire. Whilst most of our members are from Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield we do have some from further away, in Derbyshire, Lancashire and even in Worcestershire (our Newsletter editor).
The Barnsley branch has an active calendar of events throughout the year with monthly meetings, trips out to regional and national MMOC rallies as well as the club's own JoGLE run every June from John O'Groats to Lands End.
